How to calculate GST in Australia

Adding GST to a net price

GST = net × 10 / 100
Gross = net × 1.1

Removing GST from a gross price

Net = gross / 1.1
GST = gross − net

Remember that the tax share of a gross price is smaller than the rate itself: at 10% it is 9.09%. That is why you divide by 1.1 rather than subtracting 10%.
